Suggested Tracks

Let’s keep this simple, either become really competent in the pool (whereby swimming in open water won’t be daunting) or get comfortable swimming in open water through a surf life saving club. Either way, formal lessons / activities should continue until at least a “confident” level-headed milestone is completed.

Skill Milestones

Confident: Complete 3 months of squad training where at least 2km of swimming is conducted per session, or swim 500m in open water non-stop (eg no breath-stroke or treading water)

Advanced: Complete one year of squad training where at least 2km of swimming is conducted per session, or swim 1km or more in open water (eg no breath-stroke or treading water), or complete an iconic even such as Rottnest Swim in a team.

Excellent: Complete an iconic even such as Rottnest Swim solo
